Exclamation Servo Board -Arrow 1000 with Acramatic 2100

    Hi!

I have recently purchased two used Cincinnati Arrow machines- an Arrow 500 Ero and an Arrow 1000 Ero. I have purchased these at a reasonably low price, knowing the condition is not prefect (I hadn't seen the machines personally- only the photos)

Some basic data- Drives are the VFS5 and BDS5 combo. No scale feedback. Acramatic A2100 controller.

The Arrow 500 was quite trashed mechanically- I changed all the guides, reconditioned the spindle (reground the cone, new bearings installed, O rings changed etc), cleaned up thoroughly and the machine is now running well.

The Arrow 1000 on the other hand has a peculiar issue. The display in the machine does not match the controller (the display is an Flat panel display), whereas the controller at the back does not have a place to connect the Flat panel cable (there is a label mentioning where it has to be connected but the card is missing). The control serial number is matching with what is mentioned on the relay card

    Issue 1 (solved, maybe incorrectly):
Now when I powered up the machine with the original hard drive, we get a blue screen error, and the system does not boot. I diagnosed this as being a result of the graphics card drivers being different from what is needed (the standard VGA output was connected), and managed to get the HDD running using the drivers from my Arrow 500 Hard disk.

Issue 2: the IOs appear to be a bit mismatched with the machine inputs. The first sign was the door lock signal was incorrect. Then when i press emergency, all the limit switches show as active (which does not happen in the Arrow 500. This is being inferred from the programware software). As a result I am unable to reference the machine, but I am able to move the axis for short intervals till the errors reappear

Issue 3: On restarting the machine, the hard drive power cable got burnt and so did the Servo card DV5. Not sure what caused this. Replaced the HDD with a cloned one, as well as ordered a replacement servo card. Same issue happened again after 2 restarts. I have no clue what can cause this. Both The HDD is working fine on other machines even after this issue.

Has anyone faced an issue of the DV5 Servo card getting burnt? Any ideas what could be the cause? the short on the board seems quite far down, away from the drive connectors, closer to where the Probe connector is. The machine does not have a touch probe. The board now displays the Fault LED.

Also I unfortunately do not have the electrical diagrams for the Arrow 1000 (Control Diagrams 91203577). If anyone has them this would be quite helpful for me.

Please let me know if any further information regarding this is needed for further diagnosis.

    Best regards

    Jaideep

The DV5 gets the TTL encoder input from the BDS5 axis drive( if you do not have scales) which the drive converts from a resolver on the axis motor.Sounds like the X axis cable may be shorting out to something along the Y axis power track and burned up something in the BDS5 drive and feeding into the DV5 board causing the DV5 board to burn up. Just putting it out there. Let us know what you find, I have not seen this happen.
