Hi,
I finally got around to installing my re-built Y-axis servo motor after a pretty horrible winter I might add.
I made the mistake of not checking that the encoder was still functional after the re-build with the net effect that the gantry raced at full tilt
to the front of the machine.I had my hand placed on the off switch for this eventuality and turned it off smartly.
Removed the Y-axis motor and the servo motor amplifier.
Testing revealed 2 faults.
Fault #1 was that the H bridge output was being repeatedly turned off by what I assumed was a faulty current limit circuit.Whereas when I compared it with the
X-axis servo amplifier the motor ran with a steady state high on the H bridge.I got a replacement price of USD495 from Epilog via their Australian agent.
A request for a schematic was not allowed so that ruled out me trouble shooting and repairing it.
Fault #2 was that the encoder was also not working.I did not check it before sending the motor to Australia for re-building.
So I can't say whether it was killed at the time of the servo motor failure or not.
I have bought the replacement encoder optical head from Aliexpress.
This saga brings me to the point of this post.
Namely has any-one got some servo amplifiers (used) which I could buy?
Regards
GrahamS
