Default CNC upgrade, looking for reference builds closer to what I want

    Hello there!

TLDR: I need a reference design for a medium sized dual screw driven full steel frame router, bolted is possible. What would you change in this https://www.cnczone.com/forums/cnc-w...ilt-steel.html if you had dual screw drive? E.G. raise the X rails to have shorter risers for the gantry?

    ---

I currently have a DIY 1000x700x300 tabletop machine which uses some aluminum extrusions for the table, and then some steel profiles for the gantry. I have 20mm supported rails on the longest axis, and 16mm supported rails on the other 2. I'm using one ballscrew for each axis, and both X and Y use timing belts and pulleys geared 1:2 for speed, as my ballscrews are of the lower pitch variety so otherwise it's too slow. Never had torque problems but then again i'm mostly working on wood. Accuracy and repeatability are not great but the sources of error are evident to me at this point.

Fortunately I'm going to have some more room soon and I'm going to be rebuilding this machine from scratch with it's own table. I bought 2 1500mm hgr rails and 2 2005 ballscrews, thus i'd be ditching the 700mm axis and bumping stuff I currently have in X to Y, making the final (not useable) area 1500x1000x300. I've decided to use steel along with the epoxy leveling technique. I've seen a lot of people forwarded towards madvac and hayden's steel cnc (https://www.cnczone.com/forums/cnc-w...ilt-steel.html) for this and it has been very useful for me.

I'm going to get my own CAD made for this, but there's no point in reinventing the wheel, at least not the whole wheel!. So I'd like to get some other references to look at before I start with that, ones that are closer to what I'm building, mainly if there's some dual ballscrew bolted steel machine that has been replicated and validated by other people. I'd like to take advantage of not having to join the rails underneath the table to raise them, so that the gantry risers are short for stability. Am I getting the right idea here?

    Thanks a lot!
    Fer
